Educational Illustration

This is a photograph of Educational Early Learning material. The illustrations were designed by artist Nigel Spaven of Spaven Art Ltd, commissioned by The Blast Programme, UK. The photograph depicts illustrated storybooks, colouring pages, word association pictures, spelling and communication aids.

BLAST - Boosting Language Auditory Skills and Talking - a programme designed for children aged 3-5 covering the UK. Written by speech and language therapist Nikki Joyce and illustrated by yours truly.

Centered around a family's interactions with each other and their environment, the programme  includes a variety of learning aids including six books, one of which sees the family at the zoo.

BLAST has over 5,000 trained users that have helped to deliver the programme to over 1.7m children in the UK.

This 'Where's Wally' type illustration was included in the learning pack.

Can you spot the BLAST family?

This is an illustration of a busy park scene. The illustration was created by Nigel Spaven of Spaven Art Ltd, commissioned by The BLAST Programme, UK. The illustration depicts a sunny, busy park scene with lots of people involved in leisure activities. There is a pond with ducks being fed, playground swings, slides and a sand pit, plus bouncy castle and ice cream van. A winding path meanders into the distant woods. Some children are flying kites, others play ball games on the grass. People sit on a park bench as a jogger runs past followed by a roller-skater. Everyone looks happy. The colours of the illustration are vivid and dynamic with a unique style.
